Joshua Audu Gana MHR representing Lavu Mukwa Edati Federal Constituency Niger State, in his interview by Seun Fakoya the publisher of The Eye News on security challenges in our communities.This question came up during the 2nd year anniversary and Thanksgiving ceremony of Hon. Okay-Joe MHR, Hon. Joshua Audu Gana said “As members of House of Representatives our cardinal rules are representation, oversight and so on, in the last two years, motions have come several on insecurity in various areas of Nigeria and we have invited the chiefs of all security agencies, we have interviewed them on what they are doing on the security challenges and what the president has done to support them”.
“Most of these people causing these insecurity problems in our communities, the community people knows them but they are afraid to bring their names and their family ties to the security agencies to apprehend them”. “We need cooperations from these people, some of them are benefiting because those people give them handouts or support their feeding and they keep going against government, saying government has not taken care of them but they like what those banditry people give them in the area of support”.
“This can not make our nation thrive, they should pass information to us and so that this security can be stemmed”. “No investor and no company from any nation of the world will want to come and invest in Nigeria if we don’t have a secure environment for investments to thrive” . “So the problem of unemployment will continue because we are not attracting foreign investments”. “Government cannot employ everybody, government even has challenges in funding its own budgets and so as law makers we have done all we can within the laws of nigeria” .
“Whatever laws that need to be amended to help the security agencies perform better, we have also done”. “So the rest is for those who are charged with implementation”.
