IKEJA LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN LEADS STRATEGIC REVENUE TOUR ACROSS KEY BUSINESS HUBS

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Olalekan Akeem Dauda (AKOD), on Monday, September 15, 2025, embarked on a comprehensive revenue assessment tour across multiple regions of Ikeja, Lagos State.

The exercise was designed to evaluate immediate revenue outcomes, strengthen compliance, and chart new directions for sustainable internally generated revenue (IGR).

Purpose of the Tour

The Chairman explained that the tour was aimed at:
Assessing payment compliance among filling stations, corporate organisations, and commercial outlets.

Ensuring that businesses maintain proper hygiene and customer-friendly operations.

Reinforcing the council’s strategy for transparent and accountable revenue collection.

During the visits, Comrade Dauda personally inspected facilities, interacted with managers and staff, and checked for sanitary compliance, including the condition of public conveniences.

Key Revenue Highlights
The tour covered 15 major filling stations and several companies, resulting in significant revenue inflows and commitents

Some outlets,bills were evaluated , assessed,adjusted and appropriate follow-up measures have been scheduled
Comrade Dauda reaffirmed the council’s commitment to fairness and accountability, noting that the exercise was not merely about revenue enforcement but also about service quality and community standards.

He emphasised that collaboration between the Sales, Product, and Finance Departments will be critical in converting these engagements into fully realised revenue.

“This tour is a practical step toward boosting our internally generated revenue while ensuring that businesses within Ikeja Local Government maintain best practices in hygiene and customer care,” he said.

Next Steps

The Area officers in charge of the various areas visited confirmed that outstanding payments will be monitored closely and defaulters will receive formal notices to settle arrears promptly.
