In his interview by Seun Fakoya the publisher of The Eye News on his reasons behind the thanksgiving ceremony, Hon. Okey-Joe said “Well, I’m a product of grace and I’m a product of not qualifying for any position but God has decided to honor us by choosing me among many to represent Oshodi-Isolo federal constituency2 at the federal house representative in Abuja”. “So I have no option but to return all the glory to God who has made it possible” . “If you know, this is a journey that we started in 2010. This is my fourth time of contesting for election, and at the fourth time God granted it”.

” I have no other thing to fall back on but on God that made it possible because I know all things belong to God and we have come here to thank God, express our heart and gratitude for this opportunity to serve our people”. ” I decided to slow it down until this point that we can look at areas and point out one or two things we have done” .

” You can see we have attracted some jobs here, we have facilitated some trainings and extablished some people in our constituency”. “We have even sent people to go to China, I have over 20 people that were sent to China and Taiwan, for three-week training”. “It gives me joy that when I look back I said, we have done our bit, therefore I called my people of Oshodi-Isolo come, let us join hands to rejoice and thank God for His faithfulness, who has kept us alive”. “This is two years and two months since we were sworn in so in this brand ; that’s why I want to say God I thank you and I cannot do it without saying the heart of gratitude”. “So I find it an honor and privilege to see the sea of praise men In the fourth realm of the estate”.

” No man succeed without being disciplined and no man succeed would have been knowledgeable”. “Before you aspire to any position please try to read what the people are meant to do, i have privilege or study biography of legislators all over the world so when i got into a house it wasn’t a new thing for me because i read it”. “You know the book you read is the genesis and beginning of the life of a man and when you stop reading you stop growing so some of us still have access to read books that will enable us to see people who have been there before us, who have performed creatively well and began to do and learn from them because there’s nothing new on the planet earth”.

” On this note, i think that leadership is about learning, leadership is about listening and leadership is about taking decisions”.

“The more you do ; if you do better today people will demand for more tomorrow so i feel that uh, one important thing i want to emphasize on now because there have been a great misconception about legislators”. “We are not meant to execute job but we facilitate the job in our various constituencies”. “I wll give you a practical example like Ago-Palace road when refuse was on that road and people started calling me that i should clear it, i told them that it’s not my job so what i did then, i wrote to the legos state west management board and demanded that they should do their job”.

“The same thing I did on some of the roads in our constituency that are bad, I have written a letter to the legos state ministry of works and demanded that they should attend to it because that’s why we pay tax”. “I also want to emphasize here that in Oshodi-Isolo, major roads that are repaired there are done by the residents, people collectively generate money to do interlocking on most of our roads”.

“Therefore when ever people in my constituency call my attention to any repair of road, i write a letter to legos state government and tell them to do it, in fact they have been responding because before if they’re going through Ago-Palace way, you will see heaps of refuse on the road side but after that letter the refuse was cleared”.

so we moved-in, in collaboration with the party in the state too move forward and i want to announce to you ; the person that moved the motion with a Bill that 37 LCDA be converted to local government was me, I was the person that initiated it”.

“we work irrespective of party differences, we work in irrespective of tribe and tongue”. “we believe that the best thing is to make Nigeria better for you and me because we all go to the same market, is that correct?”. “When you go to market, you buy things from Yoruba, Hausa or Igbos”. “We buy the same rice, we buy the same beans at the same market So, let’s come together and make Nigeria great. Nigeria is supposed to be the best country in the world and United we will make it great”.
