Hon. Akinola Idowu urges media collaboration to drive grassroots growth

Executive Chairman of Orile Agege LCDA, Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu, has emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the government and media practitioners to promote inclusive governance and grassroots economic growth.

As a senior reporter and the founder of Agbajowo TV, Hon. Akinola made the call on Friday, 15th August 2025, during a media parley tagged “Media partnership for good governance and grassroots economy growth”, held at the Lcda council, Orile Agege.

Hon Akinola highlighted the critical role of the media, often referred to as the Fourth Estate of the Realm, in shaping public opinion and fostering national and grassroots development.

He stressed the importance of objective reporting, cautioning against narratives that could undermine the grassroots/local image and progress.

He further highlighted the need for balanced reporting, noting his administration’s expectations from the media, which include sharing accurate, balanced, and timely information regarding the Orile Agege constituency, highlighting both successes and areas that need improvement, and overall, bringing the Orile Agege residents closer to their grassroots.

Help the Orile Agege residents understand how they can benefit from the government initiatives, and in return, promise to keep communication open and responsive, be transparent and accountable in all actions, and respect & support the reporter’s role as partners in development.

Hon Akinola also revealed some of his Administration’s focus, which includes: Empowering local businesses and artisans with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive, building infrastructure that supports commerce and improves daily life, and creating opportunities for our youth in skills acquisition, technology, and entrepreneurship.

As Orile Agege moves forward, Hon. Akinola reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to promoting civic engagement, community building, and peaceful coexistence among residents, ensuring a brighter future for all the constituent.
